The cottageGale House Cottage dates back to the 1800s. It is situated just 5 minutes walk from Ambleside town centre, yet it is tucked away in a peaceful sylvan corner with its own off-road parking for 2 cars.

The cottage is cosy, comfortable, well equipped with fitted carpets throughout and is gas centrally heated plus a very efficient gas fire with feature surround in the lounge.

The Cottage is owned by Diane and David Earnshaw who live close by, and whose aim it is to make you feel at home, welcome and comfortable. They are personally involved in making the cottage ready for your arrival and when appropriate will organise lights and heating to be on as well as organising your welcome letter and bowl of provisions for a “cuppa”.
One well behaved pet is welcome.

Downstairs there is a good sized comfortable Dining-Lounge with TV, Video and Radio/CD player; there are books with local guides and pictures, games and a “personally recommended” file of places to eat, walks, excursions and places to visit.
There is a small entrance hall between the lounge and kitchen – here there is a good coat and boot cupboard.
There is accommodation upstairs for up to 4 adults, 1 child and 1 infant in a cot. The cottage is also ideally suitable for couples. There is a large double/family room with king-size bed and a 2ft-6in divan with ample room for a cot. There are views of the Fairfield horseshoe range to the north and a glimpse of Lake Windermere to the south. The second bedroom has 2 single beds; both bedrooms are tastefully furnished in traditional pine with bedding/curtain co-ordination.
Outside there is a small cobbled garden with a table and chairs and a variety of plants.
kitchen
The kitchen is well equipped with a gas/electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and washer/drier. There is a small entrance hall between the lounge and kitchen – here there is a good coat and boot cupboard.
The bathroom upstairs has a free-standing original cast-iron bath and a separate shower, there is also a good sized airing cupboard.Guests staying at the cottage have the use of the Low Wood Leisure Club (at the Low Wood Hotel on the main road just south of Ambleside) which has a very pleasant swimming pool, sauna, steam room, squash courts, and fitness room.

Terms are from £288 to £550 per week, according to season. Bookings are from Saturday to Saturday.
