Shambles Cottage is in a secluded ginnell, formerly a stable mews, off The Slack, one of Ambleside’s ancient town centre streets. Though totally peaceful, it is just a minute away from all the town centre amenities

If you wish to have a car-free holiday and walk or use bus passes, you can park free at the owners’ home 10 minutes’ walk away.

Although known as Shambles Cottage, it is far from shambolic! Fully modernised, it is furnished and equipped to a high standard with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The roomy kitchen has a dual fuel cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer,dish washer, washer/dryer and an iron. Central heating is by gas boiler.

There is a cosy lounge/dining room on the ground floor with TV. It has a beautiful carved fireplace which was originally in a large local mansion and a cast iron log effect electric stove . A large polished wood oval table seats four in comfort and there is a cosy leather lounge suite.

Upstairs there is another tastefully furnished lounge with a lovely view across the rooftops to the top of Loughrigg Fell.

The cottage sleeps four in two twin rooms, one of which can become a double. There bathroom has bath with shower over

The cottage is available all year, bookings from Friday to Friday. Short breaks may be available. Children over six are welcome. We regret no dogs and no smoking.
