Freshfields is a fine traditional Lakeland house, which has been an established guest house for many years. The house has full central heating and is furnished and decorated to a high standard. Conveniently situated on the residential fringes of Ambleside, it is within 5 minutes easy walk of the village centre amenities, pubs, restaurants and cafes. Our recent inspection by 'Visit Britain' has renewed our Four Star and Silver Award accolades, reflecting the comfort, hospitality and attention to detail we provide. No parking tickets for Freshfields guests, we have unrestricted forecourt parking.

Our aim is to provide a relaxing and friendly atmosphere at Freshfields whilst offering you spacious and extremely comfortable accommodation where comfort, care and courtesy blend with good humour to create a relaxed atmosphere.
We have three double bedded rooms with en-suite facilities and sitting area. Each room has remote control colour television, radio alarm clock, hospitality tray and hairdryer, all rooms have distant views of the surrounding fells.
After eating our hearty Cumbrian breakfast, lighter or vegetarian if preferred, you will be ready to explore the magnificent scenery and attractions of the Central Lake district.
We have information sheets and suggested routes available, and will always be delighted to offer help and advice in planning your day, ensuring your stay with us is a happy and memorable one.
Lake Windermere is only half a mile away and there are launch and steamer trips available from Waterhead. Just a few minutes drive away are Rydal Water and Grasmere, both these lovely and peaceful lakes having long associations with Wordsworth and other poets. These two lakes are to the north of us and can be incorporated in low level walks through the Rydal valley directly from Freshfields, for the reasonably fit.
Within easy reach there are stately homes and historic houses - Holker Hall, Muncaster Castle and Levens Hall are just three examples. There are numerous fine gardens worthy of a visit at any time of year. The Solway Firth and Morecambe Bay are famous bird-watching areas, with Hodbarrow (Millom) and Leighton Moss within reach.

For the comfort of guests, Freshfields is a non-smoking establishment. We regret we cannot accommodate either children or dogs.
