Hatters Cottage

A detached 18th century stone farm cottage with sunny patio and garden, situated 4 miles from Ambleside, close to the Coniston fells, 150 metres from public roads.
Set in a secluded location in the countryside, it is the only let property on our five-acre smallholding. A small stream runs nearby and the cottage is surrounded by fields, orchard and woodland with mountain views, 1 mile from the historic village of Hawkshead.
The interior has been fully renovated retaining the stone hearth and wooden beams. Guests can walk & cycle from the door on quiet lanes, forest tracks and footpaths. Double and twin bedrooms. Central heating and double-glazing throughout.

Upstairs one bedroom has a king size double bed.

Guests have sole access to the the peaceful lawn and patio outside the front door where there are wooden chairs and table (barbecue available on request). The secluded setting makes this a good spot for outdoor meals, or simply relaxing, enjoying the birdsong and listening to the nearby stream. The adjacent stone barn has a large rack for drying wet clothes and ample space for bike storage.
The stone walls, two feet thick in places, combined with the gas central heating and double-glazing keep the cottage warm in winter. Distinctive features are small alcoves in the walls - used in the manufacture of hats made from local wool.
Sleeps 4. Changeover Friday. Tariff £350-£950 per week, with discounts for 1-2 persons. Wi-Fi, electricity and gas central heating are included. Electric car charger available at cost. Bedlinen & towels included. There is private off-road parking for two vehicles a short distance from the cottage. Sorry no pets. Children over 11 welcome. No smoking in the cottage please.
